Site #1:The Staunton River

Description:

The Staunton River affords visitors a relaxing experience set in a pristine environment.  Whether taking a two-day float downstream or fishing from one of several parks, species such as striper, bass, and catfish are just a cast away.

Access Points:

English Park (off of Pittsylvania Avenue in the Town Altavista,), Long Island Park (off of Railroad Avenue in the Long Island Community), Brookneal Boat Ramp (off of Radio Road in the Town of Brookneal).

Description:

One of America’s most beautiful and historic waterways, the James River meanders along the northern border of Campbell County and offers visitors species such as catfish, bluegill, and smallmouth bass.
