Spotsylvania County is centrally located half way between Washington, DC and Richmond, Virginia. Not only are we rooted deep in history, we have some great fishing spots. Lake Anna is a 13,000-acre lake along with two well-stocked reservoirs, Ni River and Hunting Run, for fishing. Not to mention, we also have the Rapidan and Rappahannock Rivers, which run through the county. You can access the Rapidan at Elys Ford (RT. 610) about 14 miles upstream from Motts Landing (RT. 618) on the Rappahannock in Spotsylvania County. The rivers are great for smallmouth bass and redbreast sunfish angling.

Lake Anna State Park

Lake Anna is one of Virginia’s most popular lakes; the park has a beach with a bathhouse- concessions complex, and a boat launch. Overnight stays are made possible by camping accommodations. It has 15 miles of trails, plus a visitor center.

Lake Anna

Covering more than 13,000 acres with over 250 miles of shore line located in Spotsylvania, Louisa, and Orange counties. Lake Anna is one of the largest freshwater inland lakes in Virginia. There are marinas, campgrounds, and a state park on the lake.

Hunting Run Reservoir

Hunting Run Reservoir is a 420-acre water supply reservoir owned and operated by Spotsylvania County. The lake was stocked by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. There’s one access point off Elys Ford Road. Gas motors are prohibited.

Ni River Reservoir

Ni River Reservoir is a 411-acre Spotsylvania County water supply reservoir. The lake has a concrete boat ramp, concession, and boat rentals. The lake contains largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, chain pickerel, white perch, and crappie available for anglers to pursue.

We offer access to Lake Anna via our kayak slide about 20′ from the water and are ½ mile paddle from Lake Anna State Park, where many visitors go for a picnic. We rent mountain bikes, sit-on-top single and tandem kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, and pedal boats. The shop is full of Lake Anna apparel, gift and decorative items.
